Capt. Ryan Hare re: 17 Pound Sharks. I really like the 17lb balls. Great size for guys who are not comfortable with the 20lb ball but want to fish a bit deeper. It really performs well in depths from 100-180ft below that I prefer my 20lbs Sharks. 
I have been running a 15lb on my probe down 30-65ft. I run my mid rigger with a 17. It works well down shallow in 25-60fow but works great down 100-180ft as I said before 
I always run a 20lb on my deep rigger. I run that 20lbs Sharks down 200-330ft sometimes.
